Diversity
D

At Law Firm Senica we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment in which all individuals are valued and can reach their potential. We strive for diversity of our team, which allows us different views and thus the ability to adopt the best possible solutions for our clients.

Given the nature of our work, particular attention is paid to the rule of law and the respect of human rights, which is why we provide advice to refugees and asylum seekers, various religious communities and marginalized groups, including pro bono legal aid. Every year we participate at the "Pro bono counselling day" organized by the Bar Association of Slovenia.

Responsibility to Employees
R

At Law Firm Senica we attach great importance to the well-being of our employees, which is why we implement various measures for their balanced professional and personal lives.

We provide employees with flexible working hours and we are a family-friendly firm. To reduce work-related stress, we encourage employees to exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle by offering them a variety of healthy food options and enabling them to take part in organized physical exercise activities.

Gender balance and intergenerational cooperation play an important role in our law firm. When recruiting, we pay attention to the fact that all genders are equally represented and enable all employees to develop their knowledge and skills. With this in mind, the firm provides regular professional lectures by renowned external lecturers, language courses and other types of training, such as public speaking training.

In order to ensure a friendly work environment and good cooperation between our employees, we arrange trips abroad and around Slovenia several times a year and carry out team building activities. We also regularly socialise at various celebrations and parties organized by the firm.

Social Responsibility
S

Law Firm Senica has been actively involved in the shaping of the Slovenian legal environment for more than 30 years, influencing changes both in legislation as well as case law. We also contribute to the development of the legal profession by providing financial support to various educational institutions and students.

We enhance our professional cooperation with the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana and the Faculty of Law at the University of Maribor through donations, which enable students to participate in international competitions and educational excursions abroad. Each year, we also support the law student organization “Ženevski klub pravnikov” in carrying out the "Legal Solution" project.

A special place in our efforts for the advancement of the Slovenian society is held by the Parus Foundation, which was established in 2006 by the founding partner of our law firm, attorney Miro Senica. The Parus Foundation enables the best graduates of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana to take on postgraduate studies in commercial law and the law of legal and economic sciences at the best universities abroad. The only obligation of scholarship holders after completing postgraduate studies is to return to work in Slovenia for at least three years and thereby actively contribute to the development of the Slovenian society.

Apart from supporting the development of the legal profession, we are also sensitive to wider social developments which encourage us to help various non-governmental organizations with free professional advice and financial contributions. We are aware that children and young people are a particularly vulnerable social group, which is why we are keenly engaged in this area. In addition, we provide counselling to refugees and asylum seekers, various religious communities and marginalized groups, which includes pro bono legal aid. Every year we also take part in the "Pro bono counselling day" organized by the Bar Association of Slovenia.

The Certificate "Socially Responsible Employer" is based on the guidelines of the international standard for social responsibility ISO 26000, the purpose and goal of which is to improve socially responsible management in Slovenian organisations and companies in relation to employees.

Receipt of the Certificate "Socially Responsible Employer" demonstrates the commitment of the Law Firm Senica to create an inclusive working environment where co-workers feel comfortable and which enables them an appropriate balance between professional and private life. Law Firm Senica actively ensures gender equality, promotes intergenerational cooperation and pays special attention to the regular education and training of its employees.

The investment is co-financed by Republic of Slovenia and European Union from European Social Fund.

Parus Foundation
P

How does a law firm that places so much value in knowledge best show its social responsibility to its local environment? “By encouraging those who are the best to expand their knowledge”, says attorney Miro Senica who with this very purpose established the Parus Foundation aimed at funding of postgraduate studies.

The Parus Foundation enables the best graduates of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana to embark on postgraduate studies in commercial law and the law of legal and economic sciences at the best universities abroad, such as Harvard and Yale. The only obligation of scholarship holders after completing postgraduate studies is to return to work in Slovenia for at least three years and thereby actively contribute to the development of the Slovenian society.

Upon the proposal of the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana, the Parus Foundation was awarded the Pro Universitate Labacensi plaque by the University of Ljubljana on December 6, 2016. This represents the highest recognition awarded by the Senate of the University of Ljubljana which justified its decision by highlighting the significant contribution the Parus Foundation has had over the years of its activity on the development of the Slovenian academic and economic environment. Receiving the plaque is a recognition to all those who have in any way collaborated with the Parus Foundation and who with their knowledge, expertise, dedication or donations contributed to the successful realisation of its mission.
